country info

Romanian is a Roman-based language, very closely related to Italian, in the same family as Spanish, French and Portuguese, being the easternmost representative of the Romance languages. Romanian has absorbed an unusually large number of words from the Slavic languages, Greek, Turkish, and Hungarian. Outside Romania, it is spoken also in the Republic of Moldova (around three million speakers) where, by the name of Moldovan language, it constitutes the official language.
