country info

Slovenian is written in the Latin alphabet—unlike Serbian and many other Slavic languages. Slovene is referred to the Southern Slavic subgroup, though it represents the stage somewhere between Western and Southern subgroups. Slovenian has played an important role in the founding of Slovenian national identity and has managed to preserve its special features in spite of the centuries-long foreign influence.
